Moving On

Do you ever feel the need to reread a chapter, fully grasp every detail, practice it, practice it some more, keep practicing until it becomes one of your life skills, and then read it a third perhaps fourth time before you move onto the next chapter?

I do.

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve made an entry but it’s been time well spent. Redirecting your thoughts is no easy feat, but with each victory I feel a world of difference. The more I am aware of this rabbit hole of nonsense aka my [negative] thoughts, my doubts, my broken record, my inner critic, my inner child, the more I am compassionate towards other people. I am so glad to have picked up this philosophy of attraction and cannot wait to move on to the next chapter.

With nothing but positive vibes to send out to the inter webs and the Universe  I want to wish everyone a very happy belated New Year! May everyone realize their truths and live them as much as they can.

LoA STEP 2: CHOOSE YOUR THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS

THE FEELING BAROMETER:
In Step 2 of Riccoti’s book we explore the common thoughts we have and how they can range on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being quite the negative thought and 10 being great and positive. This is called the feeling barometer.

To explore the feeling barometer in terms of our life’s most prized areas Riccoti suggests visually rating these areas from 1-10, with 1 being the most negative and 10 being the most positive. My chart is featured below.

I am nowhere near where I wannabe. That’s okay because I know I am on a path to getting closer to positivity.

The next step is to focus on the areas that received low negative scores and ask ourselves what will it take to improve these areas.

THE INNER SABOTEUR:
In the latter of step 2 Riccoti encourages us to recognize the inner saboteur. This is the voice that tells me I cannot do something, I cannot be someone, or I cannot have something. This voice is nothing but fear. Realize that the voice is you.

A suggestion I got from another book (can’t recall the title or author) on how to deal with the inner saboteur:

This inner saboteur is me. It is me as a child. I will… Make friends with it. Be BFFs with it. Talk to it like I would a child. Encourage it like I would a child. Call it silly. Make it laugh. Cheer for it. Soothe it. Give it a boost of confidence. Show it what possibility is. Help it achieve. Give it a helping hand. Help it realize it is able to do anything it wants. Reward it. Love it. See it grow for the better.

LOA STEP 1: DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT

Last week I picked up The Law of Attraction (LoA) Plain and Simple by Sonia Riccoti. Today I finished the book. Right now I will begin the exercises, starting with step 1 – Deciding what I want.

Riccoti encourages readers to

  • become clear on your vision
  • focus on what you want
  • be unrealistic, dream big

Excerise 1: Create a list. One way of uncovering what you want in life is to make a list of all the things you don’t want. After you create this list, go through each and every statement and turn it into a positive statement of what you do want.

I don’t want to worry about paying bills
Money comes easily and freely to me and bills are paid with ease.
I don’t want to worry about paying to go out to do fun, simple I things around the Bay Area
Engaging in everyday activity and hobbies brings me joy, peace, a fuller life, and helps me learn more about myself.
I don’t want to live with my mother for most of my adult life
Independence is easier than it seems and is encouraged by all who love and want the best for me, including my parents.
I don’t want to be self conscious about how my body looks in the nude, in a bikini
Feeling beautiful is a natural feeling that only I validate. I enjoy the peace that feeling beautiful brings me. Feeling beautiful permeates all other areas of my life.
I don’t want to be fat and unhealthy
Making healthy food and activity choices comes easily to me, there is no reason to second guess. I know better and do better.
I don’t want to feel uncomfortable in my skin.
My body is mine, the only place I should feel absolutely at home in. When I step outside of my comfort zone it is only to grow in positivity.
I don’t want to have bad posture
Good posture comes naturally to me and it looks as if I were  a graceful ballerina.
I don’t want to have a failed career
Success comes easily to me.
I don’t want to live in California all my life
I make friends easily no matter where I go. The means to travel, settle down, or explore come naturally. People want to travel with me.
I don’t want to be a joke
I am smart and able to do anything when I put my mind to it. People look up to me and admire me.
I don’t want to travel through the television, books, and internet
Travel and learning new things is what’s destined for me.
I don’t want to rent for the rest of my life
Property ownership is in my future. I will decorate during the holidays and host parties for family and friends. My home will be a source for warmth and comfort.
I don’t want to be awkward dating
Men and women want to date me and enjoy my company, endearing and funny quirks and all. Dating is fun and sometimes funny.
I don’t want to be a couch potato with no hobbies
I have natural interests that when pursued will bring me joy.

The vast cosmos and infinite possibility

Upon witnessing sunsets morphing into a starry noir sky I feel the day come to a mystical close. As I stare into the cosmos a breeze of peace washes over me, cleansing the victories and mishaps of what was my day. The darker it gets the more I begin to recharge and think of what lies in the hours ahead. The possibilities unending and a bit of anxiety starts to rise.

After writing a to-do list for the next day I either start reading a self-help book or a novel I can escape into. If I’m not lulled to sleep I’ll try my best to pray and practice gratitude. Tonight, although I’m nowhere near close to being sleepy, I’ll begin my blog with an entry of gratitude. I am thankful for the following:

having a loving family so close by
compassionate friends
innocent doe eyed furry family
a stomach overfilled with food made from love
a room and roof over my head
a car
a phone
health
internet connection
this laptop from which I’m typing this entry
a college education
forward thinking
the ability to read
having finished the book The Law of Attraction Plain and Simple by Sonia Ricotti
